Families who are interested in trying out for NPJ this season are welcome to attend an informational meeting to discuss the upcoming season, tryouts, schedules/dues and more.

Athlete Supervision

If a parent is not attending a tournament, they must arrange for their athlete to stay with and be supervised by another family on the team. Families are responsible for making these arrangements directly. If you will not be traveling with your athlete to a tournament, you are responsible for coordinating with another family to ensure your athlete has lodging and supervision.

Stay-to-Play Policy

Please note that all designated events below remain Stay-to-Play. Although there are no assigned “team rooms,” families are still required to book their lodging within the provided team hotel blocks. This ensures compliance with tournament housing policies and helps keep teams organized in close proximity.

NPJ Team Levels – Finding the Right Fit

NPJ offers two club volleyball pathways: Travel Teams and Local Teams.

Our Travel program continues to offer the competitive club experience NPJ families know, with National, Premier, and Color Teams competing at different levels throughout the region and country.

We also heard from families who wanted to continue playing for NPJ but were looking for an option with less travel, a lower time commitment, and a lower overall cost. In response, we created our new NPJ Local Teams.

Families can choose whether their athlete would like to try out for the Travel or Local pathway. Within Travel Team tryouts, athletes are evaluated for placement on National, Premier, and Color Teams based on their tryout evaluation and team needs.

Whether an athlete competes on a National, Premier, Color, or Local Team, they are part of NPJ. Our goal across every program is to provide great coaching, intentional athlete development, competitive opportunities, and a positive club experience.

The different pathways simply allow more families to find an NPJ experience that works for their athlete, their schedule, and their budget.

What Are Travel Teams

Travel Teams practice twice per week for two hours and typically have both a Head Coach and Assistant Coach. The season runs December through May, with National and Premier Teams that qualify for postseason potentially continuing into June and early July.

National Teams

Our highest level of competition and commitment.

National Teams are designed for athletes looking to compete at the highest level available within NPJ and who may have goals of playing volleyball at the collegiate level.

National schedules typically include:

CEVA Power League
USAV National Qualifiers
National recruiting and exposure tournaments
Travel throughout the country
Opportunities to qualify for postseason competition

Best fit for: Athletes seeking the highest level of competition, national exposure, and a potential pathway toward collegiate volleyball.

Commitment: Our highest level of travel, time, and financial commitment.

Premier Teams

High-level competition with a more regionally focused travel schedule.

Premier Teams share many of the competitive and developmental goals of our National Teams, with travel focused primarily throughout the western United States.

Premier schedules typically include:

CEVA Power League
USAV National Qualifiers
Competitive regional and national events
Travel to locations such as Spokane, Reno, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Anaheim
Opportunities to qualify for postseason competition

Best fit for: Athletes seeking high-level competition and qualifier opportunities with travel concentrated primarily in the western United States.

Commitment: Significant travel, time, and financial commitment, generally less than National.

Color Teams – Black, Orange, White & Royal

Competitive club volleyball with a more regional schedule.

Our Color Teams provide athletes with strong development, competitive volleyball, and the full Travel Team experience with less travel than National and Premier Teams.

Color schedules typically include:

CEVA Power League
Oregon tournaments
Select Washington tournaments
A limited number of three-day events, primarily in Seattle and Ridgefield
Season ending in May with no planned postseason

Best fit for: Athletes who want competitive club volleyball, strong development, a traditional team experience, and some travel without the extensive travel schedule of National or Premier.

Commitment: A more moderate travel and financial commitment than National and Premier while still participating in our full Travel Team program.

What Are Local Teams

Another way to play for NPJ.

We heard from families who loved their NPJ experience but needed an option that required less travel, less time, and a lower financial commitment. Our Local program was created to provide exactly that.

Local does not replace our Travel Teams. It gives more athletes the opportunity to train, compete, and be part of NPJ in a format that may work better for their family.

Local Teams include:

Season from December through May
Two practices per week for 1.5 hours
One assigned team coach
Master Coach oversight of practices and athlete development
Training support from experienced NPJ coaches, including National-level coaches
CEVA Power League
Two 2-day tournaments
Competition in Oregon
No three-day tournaments, USAV National Qualifiers, or post season

Best fit for: Athletes who want to develop, compete, and be part of NPJ while their family is looking for a more local schedule and lower overall cost.

Commitment: Our lowest travel, time, and financial commitment.
