Loren Anderson - 18 National Head Coach

This is Loren’s first year with NPJ, and he is honored and excited to be part of the program. Loren has been coaching volleyball for 31 years and playing competitively for 32. He started in the Phoenix area, and has now coached school and club teams in Arizona, California, Colorado, and Idaho. Along the way, Loren has coached everyone from 5 year olds at the YMCA to collegiate and national team players.

In 2009 Loren founded Rise Volleyball Academy out of Meridian, Idaho (suburb of Boise), and was the Director until he sold the club in 2021. Rise was one of the first clubs in the country to embrace the ecological approach to coaching volleyball, and Loren is still very active in the international coaching community as and advocate and educator for this modern approach to coaching.

Loren enjoys playing beach more than anything, and still competes regularly, convinced his age has only made him better. When beach is not an option, he can pretty easily be convinced to play indoor, and will gladly play any position needed. Outside of volleyball, Loren can be found out walking or hiking with his two huskies, Kira and Kurek, reading, drinking coffee, or all at the same time.
